Lumberg Automation, North America is primarily focused on the Manufacturing Industry (NAICS 31-33), which includes the following: Transportation, Food and Beverage, and Machinery. The company supports each of these industries with products that fall into four categories: Connectivity, Fieldbus, Industrial Ethernet and Food and Beverage. In addition, the company is well positioned to support special applications along with private label agreements.

25 Years of Wiring Solutions for Automation Technology

The company was founded in 1933 by Karl Lumberg. In the 1980's, the automation of machinery and development of control processes began to take hold. It was during this time that Lumberg received a request to develop a "waterproof" connector. This development enabled the company to lay the foundation for a new division - Lumberg Automation Components GmbH now located in Schalksmühle, Germany.

In 1985, Lumberg Automation Components GmbH opened a new sales and distribution facility in the Untited States - Lumberg, Inc. (North Amercian Headquarters). For the next 12 years, Lumberg, Inc. would focus its attention on building a strong brand name, while taking advantage of emerging markets for Industrial Automation and Commercial Electronic applications.

Today, Lumberg Automation, North America has moved away from being a distributor of connectivity products into a full-fledged lean manufacturing, sales, and marketing company.
